Brownies

I simply have to share that I have the perfect brownie recipe – tried, tested and incredibly delicious. This recipe makes deliciously hearty brownies, but we've mastered the art of savouring each bite by cutting them into petite squares, which are wonderful served with a cup of aromatic espresso. Amidst the hustle and bustle – children playing or a storm brewing outside – the world comes to a standstill, focusing on that moment of bliss. It's a tranquil space filled with comfort, where everything seems to fall into place.

Ingredients

  • 150 g flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 225 g butter
  • 170 g semi-sweet chocolate (70–80% cocoa)
  • 180 g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (or vanilla sugar)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 120 g chopped walnuts

Method

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 170°C. Grease and line a square tin.
  2. 2Melt the butter with the chocolate over a low heat, add half the sugar, then the vanilla.
  3. 3Blend the remaining sugar with the eggs and fold into the chocolate mix.
  4. 4Then fold in the flour, salt and walnuts.
  5. 5Bake for 30 minutes – or slightly less for gooey brownies.
